For Fado.pt:

  • The name Liana brings goose bumps to fado purists. Liana is a 24-year old Portuguese singer with an immense talent. Her voice and control are very traditional - a bit edgy and harsh here and there but most of all strong. she ventilates her emotions with power and conviction.
The most striking song on the CD is the tango/fado “Estrela Da Tarde” which proves that both genres are very close, with Liana’s greatest talent the undistilled communication of her emotions. If her first album is an example of things to come, the future of fado seems finally secured.

  • “Compared with Mariza, Mísia, Dulce Pontes or Cristina Branco, Liana is not jut another fado singer.
Liana follow a different path: she tries to keep as close as possible to the soul of fado, but introduces a computerized percussion and a sax, which intensify the soul of the song.
The success of the album is totally due to Liana’s voice, as she knows how to give the right intonation to each song.”

  • A stunning album of Fado-Pop, presented by a young singer with a beautiful and intensive voice. Some songs come along as Portuguese pop hymns to hum along, and it is clear that the album has a wide audience in mind. Yet the music is full of distinctiveness and offers interesting arrangements. No doubt there will be a lot of Fado purists who feel that the arrangements are too modern, too much pop, but I rather like the eclectism of Liana’s approach, making the music highly listenable. Every single song on the album is full of atmosphere.
This is an impressive album of a young singer who no doubt is a rising star on the Portuguese Fado scene.

  • «… You can also feel the soul there, but for whatever reason, it isn’t fully grown (a discomfort before the artifices of the studio). Luckily, we know that it’s the stage where Liana truly shines and who saw “Amália” doesn’t forget.»
    Dance Club (Portugal)
  • «In the musical Amália, Liana plays the main role as a young woman. The public and critics are unanimous: Liana has fado in her soul.
That is more than obvious in her first album, “Fado.pt”, that arrives in stores today. But more than the voice that she moulds and carries with feeling, Liana stands out by her courage to lead fado to other territories, or better, to open it to modernity.
With the necessary limits, Liana does in “Fado.pt” what the Gothan Project have been doing with the Argentinean tango: she rejuvenates it! Listen to it, without prejudice!»

For the role in Amália- the Musical:

  • «The musical “Amália” has also two fabulous performances, two outstanding actors/singers: Liana and Henrique Feist. Two true stars.»
    O Independente
  • «Amália has also many impressive performances, as the work of Liana, who besides giving an excellent debut as an actress, possesses an amazing voice.»
    Inside
  • «The young Liana, who here, debuts her actress career, is surprising in her performance. She holds Amália’s magnetism, her somewhat spicy boldness, but also her most fragile and sometimes naive side of the diva. She inputs a more profound dimension to the text without losing that captivating, musical tone. As to her voice, it’s breathtaking, even more when she adds some of the characteristics of the way Amália Rodrigues sang.»

For the award in RTP Song Contest:

  • «A beautiful, strong, promising voice, the young Liana would surely b noticed in the Eurovision Song Contest.»
